Damla Kuru
I am a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Utah City and Metropolitan Planning Department and the NSF-Wired Global Center. Previously, I was a visiting scholar in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Research Interests
My core research interests lie in environmental planning and policymaking, disaster planning, climate change adaptation and population mobility, and housing. My current research examines how climate change-induced population mobility is shaping urban systems and how planning and policymaking can address the pressures placed on affected communities.
Education & Background
I received my Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the Department of Public Policy and Administration at Florida International University. I hold a B.Sc. in City & Regional Planning and an M.Sc. in Urban Design, both from Izmir Institute of Technology. Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked for six years as a senior real estate appraisal consultancy expert in Turkey.
Having received interdisciplinary training across City and Regional Planning, Urban Design, and Public Affairs, I value knowledge creation at the intersection of multiple disciplines.
My full list of publications can be found in my CV and on my Google Scholar profile.
